My son announced today that he has a girlfriend. I'm happy for him and I told him that he now has to buy a Christmas present for her and he said, "Mom, I got it covered. I bought her a purse she wanted at TJ Maxx and it was marked down from $54.00 to $10.00". And that put a smile on my face. :-)

It's great that you son has a girlfriend, but it's less than a week away from Chritmas. It seems that your son and his new girlfriend hardly even know each other yet she feels comfortable telling him what she wants for Christmas? Odd.

A little prudence would work well here; he should get her a token gesture gift of his choosing and nothing more until their relationship has a little time to mature.

Apparently he's been with her for a little while now, but didn't want to tell us until he felt comfortable. I have to respect him for that.
