How does saving money make you feel?

Today's SA blog's title caught my eye immediately. Saving money for me spells freedom, power and peace of mind. Having savings reassures me that I'm a good parent because I can provide for family in an unexpected event. We have been very careful with our money and we know how to wait for things. The first thing I do when we get our checks is to designate a certain amount of money just for savings; for me saving has become second nature. I know that money comes and goes and it can all disappear in a split second, but nothing beats the feeling that I can pull my own weight for a while without a job.

It does for me too. To me, it comes down to two words:
"Financial security" or "financial freedom".

It's not only comfortable and even enjoyable, but it's a necessity to me. I can not NOT save. I must, for my own sense of comfort and progress....

It makes me feel fabulous to put money in my savings. It means freedom from credit cards. I feel like giving a big "hurrah" every time I look at my savings balance or realize on payday that more money went to savings. If I didn't have automatic deposit, I have a lot less motivation to do it because it's more difficult. With automatic deposit, not only does the money go into the account, but it stays in, and I even find myself "finding" more money and making a point of going to deposit it to the account. It's so cool. I love it.
