Walgreens freebie!

May 6th, 2010 at 04:25 pm

Get an 8x10 photo collage for free by entering GOODTHOUGHTS (all caps). I've taken advantage of this offer many times before. Be sure to choose store pick-up, otherwise you'll have to pay the shipping. Offer is good until Saturday

I have 6 weeks left of work and I'll be off for the summer. I'm not working for the two months; I feel I've been disciplined enough to save and I have accomplished our savings' goal. I'd been a little bummed lately with everything that's been going on in the State of New Jersey with regards to teachers and other public servants. I understand that the governor has to cut back (our district has done so), but it's the anti-teacher sentiment that has me a little distraught. I guess I'll just have to grow a tough skin when it comes to that.

Have an awesome Friday, fellow bloggers!

I don't live in Jersey, what is the anti-teacher sentiment and why would people feel that way about teachers?

elisabeth, the governor of NJ has decided to close the budget deficit by cutting state aid to all school districts. As a result, our district alone will received 70% less ($1.5 million). Some districts will lose $5 million. On top of that, school budgets were defeated in 2/3 of all states municipalities. In Morris County alone, more than 700 teachers will be receiving pink slips. People have been taking cheap shots and shifting the blame at public servants for their high property taxes. Our district decided to take a salary freeze to save 25 positions and high school sports, but other districts do not have that option. I understand that we all have to give a little, especially in this economy but making these drastic changes, I feel is irresponsible.
Please keep in mind that most of New Jersey school funding comes from tax payers. If a school budget is defeated, it only means a reduction in extracurricular activities and staff.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS SITUATION. THIS TO ME IS JUST DESCUSTINGLY TERRIBLE THAT THIS COUNTRY DOESN'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT OUR CHILDRENS EDUCATION. THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T CARE AT ALL ABOUT OUR FUTURE. THE CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR CHILDREN THAT MEANS THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THIS COUNTRYS' FUTURE. IT'S JUST ALL GOING TO HELL IN AN EGG BASKET. DOES ANYONE CARE. REALLY DOES ANYONE.
