Two chapters away

May 24th, 2010 at 05:02 pm

from getting a Master of Arts in Education. I just received chapter 1-3 from my adviser. I'm currently writing Chapter 4, which is the results of my teacher action research study. I'm hoping everything goes according to my plans.

=============
My dad's health is declining fast. Last week he had a mild stroke and we are hoping that he'll be okay. My sister is traveling to Puerto Rico this Wednesday so that she can get straight facts of my Dad's condition from the cardiologist. I'll let you know how everything goes.

==============
Busy last three weeks of work. I'll be traveling to Florida the first week of June to attend my nephew's 8th grade graduation and meet my niece and nephew (10 and 8 years old). I'm so excited to see my brothers and sisters (there a 7 of us). I'm in NJ, one brother lives in Puerto Rico and the rest are all in Florida. I've not seen them in quite a while.

I hope you all have a great work week!

    Hope the studying goes well. It is worth it for the Master's. I assume you are a teacher...I am as well and the MA sure boosted my salary. After your masters, does your school provide for another step of learning...ours was 32 hours beyond the MA.

    Sorry about your dad. Hope he can recover from the mild stroke.

    rob62521,

    I teach high school Spanish. I was expecting a nice increase in salary for the 2010-2011 school year but due to state budget problems, we (teachers and support staff) decided that it was best to take a salary freeze for nine months next school year. We are paying 1.5% towards our health benefits also. I don't mind the salary freeze because it means that the 25 positions will be saved. My increase would have been close to $8K. I'm moving forward with the completion of my MA. We can go up to MA 30 credits. I calculated that I paid about $6K out of the $30K for my tuition so I think I made out like a bandit.
    My Daddy is doing much better! /
