June debt repayment update

June 30th, 2012 at 08:05 am

I closed the books for the month of June. The total debt repayment was $9,711.59. This large amount was due to paying the mortgage for the summer months in advance. I'm going to try to continue paying on the mortgage principal, even if it's small amounts, using hubby's summer job earnings. I love chipping away debt; I feel like the debt Pac-Man. Smile

GPS?

I will be in the market for a GPS soon. I want one that has pedestrian navigation capability. Any suggestions? I have about $130 to spend but I'm willing to pay extra.

I'm excited to tell you that we met one of our 2012 financial goals. We officially paid $30K towards the mortgage principal. The mortgage is paid up until October 1st. I doubt very much that we will add any extra principal payments until then. We barely generate any income during the summer months. When we do start working again in September, it'll be a catch up month for us.

June expenses have gone through the roof with more to come in the next few weeks. DS#2 high school graduation was Thursday. We survived the brutal heat in an open field where the graduation took place. We will have a pig roast the first week of July to celebrate with friends and family. He will be attending our local community college in September.

I have many books to read to keep me busy this summer. I'm currently reading the second book of the Hunger Games series and The Maker's Diet (really interesting).

Well this is it for this week. I'm really enjoying reading your blogs and a warm welcome to all of the newbies at SA. Have a great and frugal weekend.

P.S. I managed to put an extra $14 towards the mortgage principal. I bought DS #2 a white dress shirt with a tie that was required attire for graduation. DS#1 tells me that he has a white shirt that he thinks might fit his brother (too small on him). Sure enough the shirt fit perfectly and we used a tie we had on hand in the closet. I returned the shirt to JCPenney and got a $14 refund. He looked great!
