First week of October update

October 6th, 2012 at 02:01 pm

Since my last financial update, we have made extra mortgage principal payments totaling $1,309.06 and an extra payment to the car loan. Next month will be rather expensive because property taxes for both houses as well as Max's vet bill will come due then. I'm still fighting the loss of my dog and have been on a funk lately. I'd been eating more, feel sad and irritable most of the time. My neighbor says that I should not feel guilty because it has only been a little while. I'm trying hard to snap out of it and I'm certain eventually I will. Frown

I took my niece pumpkin/apple picking today and I really enjoyed watching her pick her own little pumpkins and apples. The apples are to die for; tasty and aromatic. I also bought a jar of strawberry and raspberry preserves. Total cost at the farm was $27.00. Today, when I got home I stumbled upon my favorite picture of Max and I thought I'd share it with you. Amidst my sadness, I felt blessed that my fruit and vegetable bowl is full of goodies (apples, bananas, avocados and the final collection of green tomatoes from my plants.

Max (life was so hard)

Grateful for this bounty!

It can be very difficult to get over the death of a well loved/long time pet. When my cat Monkey died (he was almost 10 years old - died in middle of teeth cleaning/bump removal surgery), I was a pretty big mess for quite awhile. It wasn't until last year that I could even stomach the idea of having another cat - and it's really been hard because I find myself comparing Kari (my current cat) to Monkey - and really, really miss Monkey. Frown It'll be 6 years in May.

Awww....he looks like such a sweetie! Your neighbor is right....there is no time limit on grief.

My condolences on your furbaby. He was a member of your family just as the human members of your family are. Everyone grieves at their own speed.

The avocadoes in your photo look great. I live in Kansas and we can't hardly get them here.

Oh, Max looks like a sweetheart, and also he looks like he had a wonderful life with people who loved him... I'm so sorry for your loss. If you think about it, the fact that it does not lead you to ignore the other blessings in your life is a good thing! I love having the insurance of being able to pick my own fruits and vegetables, there is just no comparison.
