Checking account sweep

June 3rd, 2014 at 03:55 pm

Last pay period the checking account sweep was $163. I'm wondering what will the amount, if any, for the next pay period on Friday, June 13th? I obviously don't have a 0 balance budget and I don't care to have because I know that stuff happens. I do challenge myself to keep as much as I can in order to sweep money to the savings account.

Do you do this too?

Yes, I like to sweep money to savings. I do better at certain times of year...like February and September, but I usually sweep money there each paycheck.

I too sweep sums left in chequing, less the 'float' which eliminates service charges to savings. The sums vary wildly and I'thrilled if I can reduce planned spending by $ 100. a month. I'm disappointed when spending in the various categories go over their anticipated sums. When that savings accumulates more than $ 1K, it funds a ROTH type account.

Snafu, that's a great idea! I should fund my Roth with the excess funds.
