I've been running some numbers, daydreaming of getting our household finances in order once again soon. The purchase of the new home has me wishing for the days where I pretty much knew where every penny was going. Closing on the purchase is schedule for early November. I am hoping that we can live on my income come January and stash my hubby's paychecks away. If the numbers don't deceit me, it looks like it might just work. I did not include the extra money I make and hubby's occasional overtime pay. That will be use to go out to dinner and extra things for the house. By the way, most of you agreed with hubby that we should paid the house off and I agree. We will do that as soon as we sell our current home. Thank for your input!

After we seal the deal on our current home we will have enough money to pay our new to us home in its entirety. I was thinking of keeping $50K of that money to do a kitchen renovation and update the bathrooms somewhat. My hubby is saying, pay off the house and let the kitchen/bathrooms wait. Can I live with the kitchen/bathrooms the way they are?, I can. But from prior experiences, my husband tends to drag his feet when it comes to fixing or redoing things around the house. I'd really like to get it over with and pay the $50K asap by applying extra principal payments.
What do you think?
pay for our new home using cash. Technically we can, if everything goes according to our plans, but most likely we will be closing on our current home and hopefully soon after on our new house. We probably won't have enough time for the check to clear prior to closing. I really hate to spend all that money on the closing when I know we will be paying off the house soon after the closing.
So far we have spend $4,450.00 to be able to sell. $3K on in ground oil tank removal and installation of an above ground tank. Eight hundred on fixing a small water leak in the basement and $665 on a credit given to buyers for radon abatement. They are covering the other half. Please pray that everything goes well for us or send us your positive thoughts.
