Shifting gears

May 21st, 2015 at 08:54 am

I resolved to go back to writing checks to pay bills. I just feel that it is easier to keep tabs on the money. I've found myself paying huge credit card bills and scrambling to pay them off at the end of the month.

Yesterday my car was scratched badly by a coworker to the tune of $971 in damages. She is paying me instead of claiming it to the car insurance. I am so frustrated because I take care of that car like a baby and it seems like I can't catch a break. Frown

Sorry that happened to your car. If its easier to write checks then go for it. I have all of my bills on auto draft and I go to the bank on paydays and fill my envelopes with cash for gas, food, blow.

I kind of miss writing checks and putting a stack of envelopes in mail on payday! There was always a certain satisfaction in that! But I probably won't go back to it now that everything is set up online.

Sorry about your car -- I hope you won't have any trouble collecting the payment!

I recall your car is really special so it's no wonder you're really upset. Money doesn't cover those special things when they're damaged.

I understand writing cheques or paying cash when buying stuff as plastic easily morphs into overspending. I'm often surprised when moderate costs of a dozen different spends total to a grandiose sum.
