Vacation and money update

April 6th, 2016 at 05:41 pm

We returned from our vacation Saturday. I must say that we had a great time: family, great food, sand and sun (repeat). Most of the money we spent was on eating out, car rental and liquor (tax free) at the airport. I don't drink but hubby enjoys a little bit of hard liquor from time to time and Bacardi Rum and moonshine was dirt cheap. I gave my Mom $100, my cousin, $100 (sad situation for her) and my niece $50.00. I consider myself extremely blessed and if I can pay it forward without compromising our finances, I definitely will. A few days after we came back, the dog turned out to have a gastrointestinal problem which ended up costing $325. Oh well...it comes with responsible pet ownership and there was no way in heck that I would not treat him. I also ordered a cover for the grill and a set of nice coloring pencils for my adult coloring books. I spend a lot time coloring and I want the pages to look the best.

Don't ask me how we did it, but we ended up saving 85% of our net income in March. The most we've been able to save was 60%. I had to double check my bank statement to verified that and we did. April won't be as abundant and I'm definitely fine with that. DS#2 has officially registered for his last college semester. We are super excited!

I hope you are all having a great week. I leave you with some of my vacation pics.

Such a nice way to start a dreary Midwest day - looking at those beautiful scenes. I love the second and third to last. So serene!
