When it rains, it pours (literally)

March 13th, 2010 at 04:46 pm

It's been raining cats and dogs here and guess what we have? A leak in our roof! That means that we will have to spend a good chunck of change getting it replaced. We've done some patch work already by the skylights, now we're getting water by the fireplace and porch. We thought we had a few years to go, but it does not look like it would go according to our plans. My husband stresses out so much and although I'm not happy about it, I remind him that at least we have the funds to replace it. Somehow, I tend to look at the bright side of things. It is the original roof and the house is 21 years old.

Yes you are lucky! We have lived in our house 22 years and put our second roof on 2 years ago! That one should last until we are long gone!

I remember when i had my roof done 15 years ago, i had to choose between the shingles warrantied for 20 years (a little less money) and 30 years (a little more money). I went with the 20 year shingles, and so far, so good.

All in all, 21 years is a good long time.
