DS #1 big accomplishment

December 19th, 2012 at 04:16 pm

DS#1 completed his very last undergraduate course yesterday, which means we have a college graduate in our home. He worked hard and got his dental assistant certification on the side and is currently working full-time with the dentist he has worked for since he was a junior in high school. He started making $8.00 an hour back then and he is now earning $20 an hour. We are so proud! We are especially happy that we were able to fund his education debt-free. He worked part-time and paid for gas to commute back and forth, textbooks and his parking permit.

Wonderful accomplishment to have son graduate debt free. Please pass along kudos to DS#! who must be a determined and focused young man to work, take a side certificate course and concurrently complete the requirements for his college degree. What is his plan going forward? What a wonderful start to the holiday season.

    Awesome!!

No one in our family has even borrowed a cent for college, and we don't plan to either. But heck, this is an accomplishment, debt or no debt.

$20 an hour sounds pretty substantial. Congrats to him!

@snafu, my son is saving money to purchase his first place. For now, he is happy to have a job and make decent money.

That is a fantastic accomplishment, and it sounds like his training will lead to a bright future as well. It's wonderful that he has the insurance of a degree without any student debt. Terrific!
