Short-term goal

May 30th, 2013 at 07:10 am

My husband has the opportunity to buy service years for his pension. We can buy back 47 months which will enable him to get a 20 year pension at the age of 60. The cost to buy the 47 months is $8,745.99. I am hoping to come up with that amount of money before June 30th so that we don't have to use the emergency fund to cover this expense. Our emergency fund is close to $20K, an amount I feel comfortable having. I'm also hoping to save instead of deplete the savings even though we will soon be a one-income family. Unemployment benefits should help us cover our summer monthly expenses since I am ten months employee. Will I make it? I hope so!
