Feeling blah...

October 29th, 2013 at 03:22 pm

I have to admit that I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed lately. As you may already know, my hubby is out of work and he is great at keeping up with the house and doing everything he can to make things easier for me. Honestly, it is not a financial issue. The problem is that he is home alone most of the day with no one to talk to and when I get home he wants to ask me a million questions. I am super tired and I just want silence. I'm surrounded my hundreds of kids from 7:00 in the morning to to 3:10 in the afternoon and when I get home I really don't want to hear the TV going nor do I want my hubby talking to me about anything. I'd been snapping at him lately and I feel bad after I do it. I just want some down time. I guess it doesn't help that it is getting darker and colder outside and I feel like it's affecting my mood. I just started taking a multivitamin and D-3 (2,000 mg.) I really hope it helps me. Any suggestions?

The other day a friend of mind posted an idea on how to repurpose shower curtain hooks to hang scarves and I decided to try it since I had a 12 pack in the bathroom drawer.

We'd been on a purging and organizing frenzy. My husband painted, cleaned and organized the garage and it looks awesome!

We bought furniture this past September and the old, but in good condition set was sitting in the garage. We were hoping to be able to put them in the finished basement but the staircase was too narrow for the big couch. I decided to try my luck with a Facebook page; it is an online garage sale tailored specifically for people living in my county. I took pictures of each piece and post them on the page. Someone offered me $50 (way too low) and another $250 and, of course, I sold them to the latter. The couple were moving to a bigger house and had their 3rd child on the way. So I considered it to be a win-win situation. /

Our emergency fund is growing substantially partly because I am stashing away hubby's unemployment checks and living on what I make. The progress will dwindle down once benefits run out, but by then I hope he has found work. I also continue to work the extra nine hours a week with a gross income of $285. This is helping tremendously, but I am extremely tired once Fridays rolled around. Working with children all day is exhausting! Fall is in full swing here and we finally had to turn on the heat. It was 28 degrees when I left for work on Friday. Yikes!!!!

Well, this is it for this update. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Another financial milestone met!

I am working really hard to increase our "Building Wealth Fund" and we just went over the $10K mark. Quite frankly, a $20K Emergency Fund scares me, considering I'm the only one working. Luckily, I have continued to work an average of nine extra hours per week at $30 an hour. I'm hoping to save an additional $10K by the end of June, 2014.

Today, I cleaned out the chest freezer and rotated the older meat to the top and the newly purchased items to the bottom. I told my hubby that we should not buy anything until we eat everything we have in the house.

Fall is in full swing in my neck of the woods (except for the warmer temperatures). I'm not complaining about the temperatures since it's saving me a ton of money on heating oil. Well, this is for today. I hope you have a great work week!
