A probable home sale

June 14th, 2014 at 04:36 am

Here we are, it is June 14th and our inground pool is not opened. If it was up to us, it would stay closed. Ever since our sons got out of high school the pool has not seen much action. The pool does not get much sun and I cannot stand cold water, my oldest moved out and my youngest is barely ever home and my husband goes in it at night sometimes. So what's the point, I really don't want the expense of running a pool anymore. Having said that, I think we are at a stage of our lives in which we may have to downsize a bit. I predict that my DS#2 will move out soon after college if not before that and we really don't need this bigger than average size house anymore. We love my house, but we are not sure if we want to continue paying higher property taxes (higher than our neighboring towns) when our sons are no longer in high school.

Having said all that, I happened to stumble on a new listing that I think we will be very happy to downsize to. We would have to update the kitchen and bathroom, but my brother-in-law is a contractor and we would ask him to do the work. It is below our price range and we would buy it out right with the proceeds of the sale of our home. It is a craftsman style home with lots of original wood work and very charming.

Very nice, and doesn't seem like much of a downgrade...of course, I haven't seen your current home! Good plan.

As a house sitter I am always worried when people post things like this. If you decide to buy the house either delete the listing from your blog post (but the post is cached and may show up again in the net history) or never on your blog future vacation plans or you are going on vacation to tempting to many knowing a house is going to be empty.

But it is a great house!
