Dental savings

September 1st, 2016 at 11:23 am

I had a dentist visit today to get a porcelain crown put in. It was a replacement for work done about 10 years ago. While there, I also got my 6 months cleaning done. I'm lucky that my son works there and as a courtesy, they take what the insurance pays or just lab fees for any other work. I asked my son what the lab fee was for porcelain crown (absolutely no metal in my crown) and he said that it's $156 but that it would have cost the insurance and I five or six times more for the crown proceedure had he not work there. Insurance covers 50% so I'd would have to pay about $700 of the total dental work. As a token of my appreciation, I make baked goods for the office every time I visit. I feel grateful and blessed.

The first of the month began with expenditures of $3.75 for food after the dentist visit. They were running a bit behind so I was starved when I left the office. Tomorrow, I will be in search of gluten free dog food because my poor guy suffers from allergies. I may have to up the pet care category depending on how much this new food costs. I don't mind; the cost to care for him does not compare to the joy he brings.

I'm off to work on Tuesday; it's been over two months but it is time to earn my keep and continue to work on financial future goals. I can't do that if I don't work.

I have a pot of chili in the crock pot on this rainy and gloomy day.

Nice benefit your son provides! I dislike how insurance seems to inflate everything.

Hot and humid here, but it will be raining due to Hermine tomorrow, so soup or chili sounds really good. Just that time of year!

    Stupendous value on the dentistry!

Nice perk because of your son's employment, but I'm sure the baked goods are a big hit too. Everyone likes to be appreciated.
