Day 1 with no SODA

Today, I am going cold turkey trying to kick the soda habit. I succeeded today at least. Can I tell you that I already feel like I have more energy or do you think it is a product or my imagination? I have a 2 to 3 a day Coke habit. I just love everything about; the taste, the fizz and how it goes down. SmileI hate Seltzer water so that's not an option for me. I also know how bad it is for your body. The challenge will be when I have pizza; pizza and water don't mesh. Hopefully after day 21, the craving will be gone and a good habit formed. Will be alright if I post about it here?

    I did the same in January the first few days I didn't feel great but it was the lack of sugar that my body was craving but I just stuck to water and after day 3 was feeling much better...I had a coke the other day as it was warm and it just sounded so good a nice cold coke...it tasted so gross and all I could think was how did I drink this crap...but once I decided to not drink it anymore it was easy you have to have your head in the right space, we have coke in the fridge that we have for the kids/guests etc but I'm just not interested...so stick with it...you will crave sugar but don't substitute something else sugary for the coke...when you really feel like something sugary just drink a glass of water your body gets use to it...and funny enough you will drink a lot more water and feel thirstier drinking water than you did with soda...but its just your body craving what it hasn't had and needs so drink up the water and bonus you might lose weight as well (if you need to) as a lot less sugar going into your body...good luck

    I know when I quit diet coke years ago I was shocked at how often I thought about having one. It definitely got better as the days went on. Good luck!! And honestly, I can eat pizza without soda. Your tastes will change.

    I kicked the habit too - diet Dr Pepper was my poison - and I was surprised at how easy it was. The very idea of drinking one now is crazy to me. It has no nutritional value and doesn't quench my thirst like water does.

    A tip to share: if water seems too bland, squirt a little lemon juice or lime juice in it for flavor.

    One thing that helped me to decrease my Pepsi consumption before going cold turkey, because cold turkey was too much was to add water to the Pepsi. First, I started out with about 1/4 water to 3/4 Pepsi and gradually increased the water until it looked more like iced tea. Good luck on quitting!

    I'm just at 2 years soda free this month. I don't even miss it now. I was addicted to Cherry Coke before. Good luck!

    I think it is so difficult to get away from the soda habit. You are right, the fizz, the taste, and the flavor as well as what one is used to having it for meals. I gave it up a number of years ago because of the health benefits. I actually drank some the other day and it didn't taste as good as I remembered. Keep us informed on your progress.
