Letting go

October 26th, 2018 at 09:19 am

I am nervously coming to terms with the fact that a year from now, I will be giving up my nice salary. I have good and bad days at work, but more bad than good. Our plans are still in motion. I decided not to give notice at work until my husband meets with a pension adviser to make sure that he meets all the requirements to take the state pension. I keep telling myself that the money is nice but it doesn't buy happiness and happiness is a big priority at this stage of my life.
Closing should happen sometime at the end of November or early December. Smile

It is a scary step. I only had a mediocre salary to give up, but it was scary to give it up, anyway. But I've done fine in retirement. I see my job now as stretching my money as far as I can!

How exciting for you. I understand your reluctance to give notice til all the ducks are in a row. Can't wait for you to say how wonderful and relaxing life is one year from now!

Don't feel like it's a "final" decision. If you find later that you're really missing the money, there are always other jobs, or other ways to make a little extra cash. Time is precious...glad you're moving toward your personal life goals.

    Thank you all.
